FCT Police Arrest Suspects For Impersonation, Vandalism, And Fraud

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded significant successes in its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across Abuja. Key arrests include two suspects involved in impersonation, two others for vandalism and theft, and multiple vehicle violations.

Impersonation by Suspects in Military Uniform

On November 30, 2024, operatives apprehended Emmanuel Linus and Moses Daniel, who were allegedly impersonating members of the Nigerian Army.

•Linus was arrested in full military camouflage with a fake military identification card listing an improbable December 20, 2024, as his date of birth.

•The suspects are said to be part of a criminal syndicate that specializes in defrauding victims by purchasing goods and services using fake bank alerts.

•The Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, assured that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network of accomplices.

Vandalism and Theft of Government Infrastructure

Two other suspects, Awal Mustaf and David Maji, were arrested for vandalizing streetlight poles and stealing cables behind the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

•The stolen materials, belonging to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), are valued at over ₦20 million.

•Maji, a dismissed police officer, and Mustaf were caught after a five-day surveillance operation following suspicious activities near manholes.

•Recovered items included streetlight poles and cables, with further investigations ongoing.

Enforcement on Vehicle Violations

The FCT Police Command has also intensified enforcement of regulations banning vehicles with tinted windows, single license plates, and defaced or concealed number plates.

•296 vehicles have been impounded since the launch of the Special Tactical Team.

•CP Disu stated that these measures aim to improve security and reduce criminal activities facilitated by unidentifiable vehicles.

The FCT Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety. Commissioner Disu emphasized that the public will be updated as investigations progress and urged continued vigilance and cooperation.
