Five Arrested In Connection With The Murder Of UNILORIN Graduate
The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended five individuals believed to be involved in the brutal killing of Lanre Adebayo, a 46-year-old Political Science graduate from the University of Ilorin. Adebayo was reportedly tortured to death in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area during the early hours of Monday, October 21, 2024.
According to sources, the violent incident began when Adebayo engaged in a heated argument with local vigilant security guards while on his way home. The confrontation escalated, leading to the tragic outcome. Among those arrested are a community leader and two local vigilante security guards, alongside two other male suspects, all of whom are alleged to have participated in the attack.
Confirming the arrests, Police Public Relations Officer Toun Ejire-Adeyemi stated that the case was reported to the command headquarters on Wednesday evening. She emphasized that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that further updates would be provided once the inquiry is complete.
The shocking nature of Adebayo’s murder has raised concerns within the community, prompting calls for justice and increased safety measures in the area.
