FRSC Deploys 1,500 Personnel For Ondo State Governorship Election
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mobilized 1,500 officers to ensure a seamless and orderly governorship election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16, 2024. The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, authorized this deployment as part of a coordinated effort with other security agencies to enforce vehicle movement restrictions on election day, aiming to promote safety and uphold electoral integrity.
Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, announced the deployment, highlighting that FRSC resources for the day include 25 patrol vehicles, seven tow trucks, and six ambulances. These assets will be positioned strategically to manage traffic, swiftly address road obstructions, and respond to emergencies, ensuring the election proceeds smoothly.
Corps Marshal Mohammed has emphasized the need for professionalism among the deployed officers, instructing them to respect voter rights and avoid any actions that could disrupt the democratic process. “The highest sense of professionalism” is expected, he said, underscoring the FRSC’s commitment to both security and civil rights.
The FRSC has also urged the public to cooperate with officials and comply with movement restrictions to facilitate a peaceful electoral environment. The agency’s proactive approach reflects its dedication to supporting a fair and democratic election in Ondo State.
