Fulham Sign Jorge Cuenca From Villarreal
Fulham have announced the signing of defender, Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal.
The 24-year-old joins on a four-year contract, with a club option of another 12 months, and becomes the Cottagers’ third summer addition.
“The club is an historical club and Craven Cottage is an historical stadium. I prefer Fulham because of the city, and I want to play in the Premier League,” Cuenca told the official club website.
Born in Madrid, Spain, on 17 November 1999, Cuenca is a left-footed centre-back who can also operate as a left-back.
He began his career in the youth ranks of Alcorcon before joining Barcelona’s B team in 2017. He made one first-team appearance for Barcelona, but left to join Villarreal in September 2020.
Last season he established himself as a regular starter for Villarreal, making 37 appearances in all competitions, including 28 starts, having spent his first two seasons on loan at Almeria and Getafe.
Cuenca demonstrated his threat from set-pieces by scoring three goals in LaLiga, all headers from corners.
