Governor Sanwoolu Calls For Collaboration Between Lagos Residents, Police
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday urged Lagos residents and the Nigerian Police to collaborate.
Sanwo-Olu said this at the opening ceremony of a two-day Capacity Building Workshop organised by the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command Headquarters.
It was contained in a statement titled ‘Insecurity: Sanwo-olu Calls For Collaboration Between Security Personnel, Citizens’.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Jaji, stated that his administration will keep enhancing mutual understanding between members of the public and the security personnel and agencies in the State.
He applauded the theme of the workshop titled; ‘Internal Security Operations in a Democratic Dispensation’, while saying that people are in need of the police and Vice versa.
The Governor said; “The organization of this capacity building workshop for personnel in the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command Headquarters, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, is highly commendable because it will serve as a platform for the orientation of security personnel in Zone 2 on their expected roles as professional security personnel and their interaction with the civil populace.”
He added that the State recently fixed the first-of-a-kind Lagos Police Youth Dialogue Session with over 1000 Police Officers and young Lagosians present to build a mutual relationship between the police and residents for a very effective policing in Lagos State.
