Hezbollah Drone Strike Kills Four Israeli Soldiers, Injures Dozens In Northern Israel

On Sunday, Israel’s military reported that a Hezbollah drone strike on a northern base killed four Israeli soldiers. The attack targeted a military training camp in Binyamina, located near Haifa, marking one of the deadliest assaults on an Israeli base since late September. Over 60 people were injured, according to emergency services.

This incident occurred as Israel expanded its bombardments of southern Lebanon in response to escalating cross-border hostilities with Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the drone strike, describing it as retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that reportedly killed at least 22 people in Beirut days earlier. In a statement, Hezbollah warned that the attack on Binyamina was only a prelude to more severe actions if Israel continued its military campaign.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian toll in Gaza continued to climb. Authorities reported that an Israeli strike on a school being used as a shelter for displaced Palestinians killed 15 people, while a separate attack on a hospital left four more dead. The United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) has also been caught in the conflict, with Israeli forces allegedly breaching a UN position amid the fighting. UN peacekeepers condemned the violation, noting that such actions could escalate tensions further.

As hostilities rage on, the United States has bolstered Israel’s defenses by deploying a high-altitude anti-missile system to protect against potential threats from Iran and other actors in the region.
