Innoson CEO, Chukwuma Meets President Tinubu, Vows To Supply CNG Buses Soon
Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the Founder and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, recently announced plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered buses aimed at providing cheaper transportation options for the public. Following discussions with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, Chukwuma expressed optimism about the government’s CNG initiative, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize transportation in Nigeria.
Chukwuma highlighted the benefits of CNG, noting its efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional petroleum-based fuels. He underscored his early recognition of CNG’s advantages, which prompted him to initiate production of CNG-powered vehicles and kits. According to him, this initiative aligns with Nigeria’s vast gas resources, aiming to reduce dependence on imported Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), thereby saving substantial national resources.
President Tinubu, in a recent nationwide address, outlined the CNG initiative as a crucial step towards leveraging Nigeria’s abundant gas reserves. He emphasized that transitioning to CNG would not only cut down on fuel importation costs but also redirect significant funds towards critical sectors like healthcare and education.
The collaboration between Chukwuma and Tinubu underscores a shared commitment to sustainable and economically viable transportation solutions, marking a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s efforts to harness its natural resources for national development.
