INEC Distributes Electoral Materials Early In Ondo State
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the distribution of electoral materials early Saturday morning at the Registration Area Centre (RAC) in Anglican Primary School, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Polling Unit Officers, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, and security personnel, including policemen, were present to ensure the smooth delivery of materials to various units. The early start was aimed at facilitating the timely commencement of voting to avoid unnecessary delays in the election process.
Early Morning Activities
The RAC was bustling with activity as early risers checked their names on the voter’s list while waiting for the polling units to open. Locals also took advantage of the gathering crowd to engage in brisk business, selling rice, water, and drinks to election officials and voters.
An INEC official emphasized the importance of starting the process on schedule:
“We started the distribution of materials on time and our polling unit officers left early. Hopefully, the election can start as scheduled. No room for delay.”
Security Measures
Policemen were stationed to escort election materials and officials to the designated polling units, ensuring the security of the process. The presence of law enforcement also reassured voters of a safe and orderly election.
The proactive steps by INEC to distribute materials early highlight the commission’s commitment to conducting a transparent and efficient election in Ondo State. As voters prepare to exercise their civic rights, all eyes are on the process to ensure it is free, fair, and credible.
