Just In: Senate Confirms Bawa As EFCC Chairman

On Wednesday, 24th of February, the Senate confirmed Abdulrasheed Bawa as the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This confirmation follows his appearance before the upper chamber for his screening.

Abdulrasheed was escorted into the Senate Chambers by his family members and some political associates.

Bawa, 40 year old once worked with the EFCC for 16 years and is an authentic fraud examiner and anti-money laundering guru.

While he was undergoing his screening, Mr. Bawa assured the federal lawmakers of his promise and commitment to repositioning the commission by making sure that the anti-graft agency is in a perfect position before his tenure ends.

According to him, he will work with strategic partners all over the globe to make sure Nigeria benefits from the repatriation of assets stolen from her coffers.

He further said the EFCC will achieve its independent aim and objective by dispatching information with its partners.

He assured that by the time his tenure expires, the EFCC will be a better place than he met it, and that his training by the FBI and the National Crime Agency of the United States and the United Kingdom respectively will be excessively useful.

He answered questions concerning the things he would do differently from the past chairmen by staring he will reposition the commission by making sure that it strengthens its standard operating procedures and improve on them.

He also declared that there will be more transparency and accountability.

He admitted that the EFFC has issues with the management of assets, and the EFCC boss said he will begin to work on the digitization of the offices for proper record keeping.

He further noted that the constitution will guide his steps and actions as EFCC Chairman.
