Katsina Gov, Dikko Radda Sign 2025 Budget Into Law

On Wednesday, Dikko Radda, the Governor of Katsina State signed the state’s 2025 budget, tagged ‘Building Your Future II’ into law.

It was reported that the budget, initially proposed at ₦682.2 billion, was increased by ₦10 billion after a review by the state House of Assembly, bringing the total to ₦692.2 billion.

The governor presented the proposal on November 25, 2024.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Government House, Katsina, Radda commended the assembly for its dedication to ensuring the passage of a budget designed to drive developmental initiatives in the coming year.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies which he said played a critical role in crafting a realistic and impactful financial plan for the state.

Radda stated, “Our 2025 budget reflects our commitment to capital development.

“Katsina’s recurrent expenditure now stands at 22.8% of the total budget, a significant reduction from last year’s 28%, while capital projects account for over 77% of the total budget.”

The governor noted that the shift underscores his administration’s focus on infrastructural development, education, and agriculture.

He emphasized that these priorities aim to enhance self-reliance among citizens, improve living conditions, and reduce poverty in the state.

“The 2025 budget builds on our strong performance in 2024 and lays the foundation for sustained progress,” he added.

Earlier, Nasir Daura, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, described the budget as the result of a thorough legislative process.

He revealed that an additional ₦10 billion was uncovered during budget defense sessions with MDAs, leading to the increase in the final appropriation.

Daura said, “This rigorous review process ensures the budget addresses the real needs of our people.

“The revised figure of ₦692.2 billion provides the necessary framework for improving the living standards of citizens and fostering development across the state.”

The speaker further appreciated Radda’s dedication to the welfare of Katsina residents and expressed confidence that the budget implementation would yield significant progress in 2025.

The 2025 budget prioritizes education, agriculture, and other critical sectors, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to advancing the state’s economic and social infrastructure.
