Late Night fire razes cars and properties in Lagos
Tragedy struck heavily on Wednesday night, 3rd of December in Lagos when a raging fire, which broke out at Okeowo Somorin Street, ifako, Gbagada, destroyed buildings and cars packed in the neighborhood worth several millions of naira. The incident, according to an eye witness, happened at about 8pm, adding that there were no loss of lives but a whole lot of properties were ruined. The moment this incident occurred, a lot of people took to social media, twitter most especially to raise an alarm and warn motorists to avoid plying that route for this moment until the fire has been put off and all is in order.
Director-General, Lagos state Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr., Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
According to Oke-Osanyintolu, ”The agency responded to a distress call. The fire seems to have resulted from a power surge when electricity supply was restored. There are no casualties, but the flames spread very quickly to a number of vehicles and a generator within the premises. Joint responders of Lagos state Fire and the agency are working to curtail the spread. Once this is done, a full assessment will be carried out”.
Reports say the fire has been contained; luckily, no lives were lost.
