Living Fake Life Might Be A Survival Instinct in Lagos

Some people have to live fake lifestyles to survive, this is not uncommon among celebrities and particularly Lagosians. It can be seen as a survival instinct in some cases.

Life in Lagos can be described as a “real fake life”. This include pretending to have a higher social status or wealth than they actually do. While this may be a survival instinct, it can lead to the incremental loss of the survival instinct.

Here are some examples of how Lagosians live fake lives;

Pretending to have more wealth or success than they actually do to maintain their celebrity status.For instance some purchase the latest car, phones, wigs just to form class.

Creating a fake persona or personality to appeal to their audience or to maintain a certain image.

Faking relationships or friendships for publicity or to maintain their celebrity status. Some go as far as paying someone to act as their date, snap and post on social media.

Most importantly living for the gram.

Reasons people live fake lives are not farfetched than these,

To compete with others

To impress and please others with their extravagant spending.

To fit in with society and belong to a clique.

To model confidence, competence, and optimism.
