Minister Mohammed Idris Facilitates Federal Appointments And Community Projects In Niger State
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has revealed that he facilitated over 30 federal appointments for Niger State indigenes, alongside spearheading various developmental projects in his home community. This disclosure came while addressing concerns raised by a traditional ruler who accused him of not securing federal opportunities for his people.
In his defense, Idris highlighted the appointment of Jibrin Baba Ndace as the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria as one of his notable achievements, adding that he has ensured similar appointments for over 30 individuals in the state since assuming office.
During the commissioning of several multimillion-naira projects in Malagi, Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, the minister emphasized his commitment to community development. The projects included a newly constructed Islamiyya School, a mosque, a New Jumaat mosque, electrification and water initiatives, and a remodeled primary school.
“These projects are aimed at fostering proper teaching of religion to promote peace and unity among our communities,” Idris stated. He acknowledged the high expectations from his community but assured them of executing plans strategically and in phases.
The occasion also served as a platform for the minister to promote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies. Addressing criticisms of the administration, Idris described the reforms as a pathway to long-term prosperity.
“All the reform programmes and initiatives of Mr. President are well thought out and designed for the benefit of all Nigerians. While reforms are challenging, they will ultimately lead us to a prosperous future. By 2025, the benefits will be evident,” Idris assured.
In addition to the minister’s efforts, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago commended him for his contributions to community development. The governor announced donations totaling over N12 million to various groups, including women, youths, vigilantes, and district heads. He also pledged to upgrade the renovated primary school to a model junior secondary school and build a market for the community, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to rural transformation.
The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, lauded these efforts and urged all elected officials to prioritize community development.
Through these initiatives, Minister Idris and Governor Bago have demonstrated their commitment to uplifting the living standards of their people and fostering development across Niger State.
