Music Producer, Don Jazzy and His Father Share Birth Date as Music Producer Clocks 39
Legendary music producer, Don Jazzy, today turns 39. What makes his birthday more interesting is that the beatmaker shares the same birth date with his father. As the music producer and his father add a year to their ages, the matriarch of their household has taken to her social media to say words of prayers to the ‘men in her life.’
In a message posted via her Instagram account, Indianpicolo, the music producer’s mother wrote, “Happy birthday to these legends @mavingrandpa and @donjazzy. This period every year gives me joy that can’t be expressed by just talking. My prayer always is for God to give you two long life with good health in Jesus name amen. I love you.”
Born on November 26, 1982, Michael Collins Ajereh fondly referred to as Don Jazzy is is the founder and the CEO of Mavin Records.[1] Don Jazzy was co-owner of the defunct Mo’ Hits Records record label with Dbanj.
His mother is an Igbo princess from Abia state and his father is a member of the Isoko people. Don Jazzy’s younger brother is the music artiste, D’Prince. Don Jazzy’s family moved to Ajegunle, Lagos where Don Jazzy was raised.
Don Jazzy found an interest in music early in life and at age 12, he began to play the bass guitar and piano. He also gained knowledge of traditional and percussion instruments.
He enrolled in business management studied at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state.
In 2000, his uncle invited him to play the drums for a local church in London and that was his first visit to London. Don Jazzy gained employment at McDonald’s as a security guard. He continued his interest in music, associating with artists like; Solek, JJC Skillz, Kas, Jesse Jagz, The 419 Squad and D’Banj.
In 2003, Don Jazzy married Michelle Jackson. He claims they both had issues as a result of his ambitious nature and love for music. Subsequently, they divorced about two years after they were wedded.
