Nigeria Receives 1.9million Doses Of Johnson And Johnson Vaccine From The European Union
The federal government of Nigeria has once again received 1,936,050 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine from the European Union.
The doses were given to officials of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) on Monday at the national strategic cold store in Abuja.
Speaking while receiving the vaccine, Faisal Shuaib, NPHCDA executive director, disclosed that Nigeria “currently has in the country a total of 12,916,450 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine”.
In September 2021, Nigeria received additional 1,123,200 doses of the J&J vaccine through the African Vaccine Acquisition Team (AVAT) of the African Union, a facility provided by AFREXIMBANK as part of the 39,800,000 doses procured by the federal government.
According to a data released by the NPHCDA, more than 15 million Nigerians have so far received their first dose while 6.1 million are fully vaccinated.
