Nigerian Islamic Movement Leader, Elzakzaky’s Wife Tests Negative for Covid-19

The wife of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Zeenat El-Zakzaky, who is in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service has tested negative for the COVID-19 virus.

The NCoS spokesman, CC Francis Enobore, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

Zeenat El-Zakzaky was said to have contracted the infection while in custody prompting the court to order her evacuation to an isolation center, although the order was later reversed following her recovery.

But not convinced by the reports of her recovery, the Correctional Service insisted on conducting a COVID-19 test on her in collaboration with the Kaduna State government, her personal physician, and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Happily, the test result has been released and the inmate, including her contacts have no trace of the COVID-19 virus. It is important to state with emphasis that Zeenat El-Zakzaky never contracted COVID-19 infection as was alleged,” the statement read.
