Nollywood Star Kunle Afolayan Mourns The Loss Of His Beloved Mother

Nollywood actor and acclaimed film producer Kunle Afolayan has announced the passing of his beloved mother, Omoladun Afolayan, who died at the age of 81. Kunle, well-known for his contribution to Nigerian cinema, shared the sad news on his Instagram page, expressing deep sorrow but also gratitude for the life his mother lived.

In a heartfelt tribute, Kunle wrote, “It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life. Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest. (1943-2024). She is survived by children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa (Her child will outlive us all).” His post was accompanied by cherished photos of his late mother, including some that captured her joyful moments with her grandchildren.

Omoladun Afolayan, affectionately known as “Iya Oyo,” was not only a cherished matriarch but also a significant figure within her family, known for her nurturing presence and close relationship with her children and grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her family members, many of whom have made notable contributions to the Nigerian film industry. Kunle, alongside his siblings, has often spoken of their family’s artistic heritage, which is partly inspired by their late father, the veteran theater and film actor Ade Love, a pioneer in Nigerian entertainment.
