NSCDC Warns Against Job Racketeering In Kogi State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a stern warning to its personnel in Kogi State, stating that any officer found guilty of job racketeering will face immediate dismissal. This was declared by the Kogi State Commandant of the NSCDC, Akinlade Esther, during the opening of a three-day workshop in Lokoja themed “Incessant Job Racketeering and Financial Fraud in the Corps.”

Addressing officers at the event on Thursday, Commandant Akinlade highlighted the severe implications of unethical practices on the agency’s integrity and operational efficiency. She underscored the importance of maintaining professionalism and adhering to the Corps’ ethical standards, emphasizing that such actions are in line with directives from the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

Our actions today align with the directive of the astute Commandant General, whose policies and strategies focus on capacity building for the Corps,” she stated. “Any officer caught in the act of job racketeering will be dismissed. Together, we can stand united against any form of malpractice that undermines the trust placed in us by the public and threatens the integrity of our noble agency.”

The workshop aimed to address internal corruption and bolster the moral and ethical conduct of NSCDC personnel. It also served as a platform to equip officers with the knowledge to identify and combat fraudulent practices within the Corps.

In a related address, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Kogi State Office, Mr. Ulu Okoro, urged the personnel to embrace the values of honesty, diligence, and respect for the rule of law.

Let us be the guardians of truth and defenders of justice,” Mr. Okoro remarked. “Only through our unwavering dedication to these principles can we honour the trust bestowed upon us by the people we serve.”

The workshop highlighted the NSCDC’s commitment to fighting corruption and reinforcing its role as a trusted security agency. Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons learned to foster integrity and accountability in their professional conduct.
