Osun Governor Launches Statewide Agricultural Empowerment Program

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday inaugurated the Imole Agropreneur Model Project, a state-wide agricultural empowerment initiative, in Imesi-Ile. The program aims to boost financial independence for youths and women while enhancing the state’s economic productivity.

Project Goals

Governor Adeleke outlined the objectives of the initiative during the launch:

•Empower participants through access to allocated farmlands and resources.

•Strengthen financial returns through strategic partnerships with off-takers for farm produce, ensuring profitability and sustainability.

•Foster public-private partnerships and communal ownership to encourage local involvement and support.

•Establish micro agro-processing platforms with a focus on export markets, positioning Osun farmers for global competitiveness.

•Develop a new generation of modern farmers targeting both local and international markets.

Governor’s Remarks

Speaking at the event, Adeleke charged the beneficiaries to demonstrate commitment and diligence in utilizing the farmlands provided under the project. He emphasized the importance of making the initiative a success to justify the government’s trust and investment.

“This initiative is a starting point for creating a sustainable agricultural framework in Osun State. With communal ownership and strong public-private partnerships, we aim to build a new team of modern farmers ready to compete in local and global markets,” the governor stated.

Adeleke also announced plans to replicate the Imole Agropreneur Model Project across all 30 Local Government Areas in the state, ensuring widespread participation and impact.

Earlier, the Owa Ooye of Imesi-Ile, Oba Enoch Akinyemi, received Governor Adeleke and his entourage at his palace. The monarch commended the governor for his visionary leadership and prayed for the success of the initiative. He assured the government of the community’s support for projects that create jobs and improve the living standards of residents.
