Osun State Approves N75,000 Minimum Wage For Civil Servants

The Osun State Government has announced Governor Ademola Adeleke’s approval of a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants in the state. The decision was made following recommendations from the Public Service Negotiation Committee.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, confirmed that the committee had presented its report to the governor. The government team, led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye, collaborated with the Osun State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Christopher Arapasopo, to reach the agreement.

The new minimum wage of N75,000 was adopted and approved by the governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for civil servants in the state. The Adeleke-led administration is deeply committed to prioritising the welfare of civil servants, who tirelessly provide efficient, effective, and quality services to the state despite the limited resources accruing to it,” Alimi stated.

Governor Adeleke’s administration has emphasized its dedication to improving the welfare of public servants as part of its broader governance strategy. The commissioner called on civil servants to reciprocate this gesture by enhancing service delivery, embracing innovation, and maintaining accountability to ensure the development of the 33-year-old state.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye commended Governor Adeleke for his commitment to the welfare of the workforce, describing the approval of the new minimum wage as a significant milestone in promoting the dignity of labor in Osun State.

The move underscores Governor Adeleke’s determination to improve the standard of living for state employees, even amid limited resources, as part of his vision for a more prosperous and equitable Osun State.
