Ousted Mali Ex-President Returns To Country
Mali’s ex-president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has returned to the Sahel state on Wednesday after leaving to seek medical treatment in the United Arab Emirates.
Recall that Mali Military had given Keita who was ousted in August, a maximum of three months to get back to the country after receiving medical care abroad.
The 75-year-old former leader reportedly landed in the capital Bamako in the evening.
AFP reports that a few dozen supporters welcomed him home with chants of “long live IBK”, an acronym which Keita is more commonly known.
Mali’s junta has handed over power to an interim government which will rule the country for 18 months.
