Peter Obi Becomes Labor Party Presidential Candidate As Pat Utomi Steps Down
Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, is now the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
He emerged at Labour Party’s Convention and presidential primary which took place in Asaba, Delta State.
A total of 185 delegates had been accredited to vote in the exercise to elect one of four aspirants seeking to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.
Mr Obi later won the contest following his emergence as the sole contestant.
Earlier at the convention, Professor Pat Utomi stepped down for Obi.
Utomi announced that Obi is a younger aspirant with the capabilities to effect the necessary change in the Nigerian system.
Similarly, another aspirant, 45-year-old Joseph Faduri stepped down for the former governor.
Obi, who was a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, resigned from the PDP and also withdrew from the presidential race on the platform of the party on the 25th of May.
