Plateau Residents Applaud Governor Caleb Mutfwang For Inclusive Governance
Residents of Plateau State have commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for promoting inclusive and progressive governance aimed at fostering unity and development across the state. The commendation came during a Christmas luncheon organized by the state government on Thursday night, which was attended by prominent dignitaries, including former governors Joshua Dariye, Jonah Jang, and Simon Lalong.
Former military governor of Plateau State, Rear Admiral Samuel Atikum (retd.), lauded Mutfwang’s efforts to address the state’s security challenges through innovative initiatives. He praised the governor’s focus on infrastructure development, including the construction of new roads and rehabilitation of existing ones.
Atikum urged the governor to treat the entire state as his constituency, rise above party affiliations, and pursue policies that benefit all residents. He also called on elders to set aside political, ethnic, and religious differences and support the administration for the state’s collective progress.
Similarly, the Emir of Kanam, Alhaji Mu’azu Babangida, commended Mutfwang’s efforts to unite the people and foster sustainable development. Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers, he highlighted the importance of the governor’s initiatives in strengthening the state’s social fabric.
Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, a former Nigerian envoy to Switzerland, also praised the governor for reviving the train mass transit system and introducing metro buses to cushion the economic hardship faced by residents. Kwande encouraged the governor to maintain regular dialogue with elders and other stakeholders to ensure collaborative solutions to the state’s challenges.
In response, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the elders for their attendance and unwavering support. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming Plateau into a secure and prosperous state.
“Our investments in technology to enhance surveillance and respond swiftly to security breaches are already yielding positive results. This has contributed to the current peace we are enjoying in the state,” Mutfwang noted.
He highlighted his administration’s plans to boost the tourism sector by rebuilding iconic structures such as the Hill Station Hotel, Plateau Hotel, and Jos Abattoir, initiatives expected to generate revenue and create employment for the youth.
The governor pledged to sustain open communication with elders and key stakeholders, emphasizing that their collective input is vital to achieving his vision for Plateau State.
With widespread support and the governor’s strategic leadership, Plateau State appears poised for a new era of unity, security, and economic growth.
