Portharcourt Women Protest Blackout, Says Their Husbands Don’t Touch Them At Night

Some women living around the Mile 1 and Mile 3 Diobu areas of Port Harcourt have protested to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC).

They say the recent blackout in the Garden City, plus the heat wave in the night has affected them adversely.

While waving placards and chanting songs, the women claim the food in their refrigerators is going bad and they have to keep disposing them regularly.

One of the protesters said: “We came to tell NEPA that there is no light in Mile 3 area. We pay bills every month but no light. It affects us by making our soup sour”.

They also added that the situation has reduced romantic activities in their marriages as the heat discourages their husbands from fulfilling their conjugal obligations to them.
