Portugal defeats North Macedonia 2-0 to secure their spot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Bruno Fernandes bagged both goals for Portugal to overcome the Balkan nation that had knocked out European champions Italy in a stunning result last week.

Italy’s shock exit had North Macedonia dreaming of their first ever appearance at a World Cup finals but Portugal proved a step too far in Porto.

“Goal accomplished,” Ronaldo disclosed this on Instagram after the match. “We made it to the World Cup in Qatar. We are where we deserve to be.”

“This is a special victory,” Fernandes said. “We reached our goal, which was what mattered. Portugal has played better matches, but this one will stay in our memories because it gave us a place in the World Cup.”
