Racism: UK Black Community Protests Assault On Teenager Today

The black community in the United Kingdom said it had secured police clearance to protest the assault on a black schoolboy by a white teenage boy.

The President of Nigerians in the UK, Benjamin Kuti, also known as Oluomo of Derby, in a post on his X page on Sunday, said the protest takes places hold today (Monday).

According to Kuti, the protest, which would be a peaceful walk, would be held from the town centre to St. John Henry Newman Catholic School where the blackboy was assaulted.

Kuti wrote, “The black community in Carlisle is having a peaceful walk in the town centre and towards the school tomorrow at 08:30 am.

“The police have given us clearance in case we have BAME willing to join the peaceful walk.”

The Cumbria Police in the UK on Saturday confirmed the arrest of a white teenage boy who was captured in a viral video assaulting a black schoolboy in Carlisle.

The incident was said to have occurred at St John Henry Newman Catholic School in Carlisle.

In the video, the white teen was seen hitting the black schoolboy and ordering him to kiss his shoes.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Saturday, the Cumbria Police wrote: “We can confirm officers have arrested a teenage boy in relation to a report of a hate incident involving a boy being assaulted in Carlisle.

“Officers are aware of images relating to this incident being circulated online and concerns in the community over the incident.

“As an arrest has been made, we would urge people not to share the video further so as not to impede any legal proceedings or to identify any of the children involved.”
