Reasons one of your breasts is bigger than the other
Maybe while undressing you noticed that one of your breasts is bigger than the other. Or you notice changes in your breast sizes while having your bath and you have been wondering why! Here are some reasons why one of your breasts may be bigger than the other:
Hormonal changes: Your breast tissue can change during your menstrual cycle, and can often feel more full and sensitive. It’s common for the breasts to look bigger because they actually grow from water retention and blood flow.
Puberty: During puberty, breast development can occur at different rates, leading to asymmetry.
Genetics: Breast size and shape can be inherited from your parents.
Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding can cause changes in breast size and shape, which can lead to asymmetry.
Juvenile hypertrophy of the breast: This rare condition can cause one breast to grow significantly larger than the other. It can be corrected with surgery.
Breast cancer: In rare cases, breast asymmetry can be a sign of breast cancer. If there’s a large variation in asymmetry or if your breast density suddenly changes, this could be an indication of cancer.
The only way to determine if there is a medical problem is to have regular mammograms to ensure that any breast abnormalities are identified early.
