Roma Beats Feyenoord To Win Inaugural Europa Conference League
Nicolo Zaniolo scored the only goal that led to Roma winning their first-ever major European trophy on Wednesday.
Italy international Zaniolo struck with a well-taken finish in the 32nd minute to earn Roma their first trophy of any kind since 2008 and cap a successful first season for coach Jose Mourinho in Rome.
“It was a real struggle but I’m really happy,” Zaniolo disclosed this in an interview.
“It was my dream and now I’ve done it.”
Roma coach Mourinho, who had previously won the Champions League, Europa League and the UEFA Cup with other clubs, can now add the third-tier European title – the Italian side’s first trophy in 14 years – to his medal tally.
Zaniolo became the first Italian to score in a European final since Filippo Inzaghi against Liverpool in the 2007 Champions League.
