Sevilla Defeats Granada 4-2 To Go Second In La Liga
Sevilla defeats Granada 4-2 to go second in La-liga.
Julen Lopetegui’s side had looked ready to settle for a point after Granada captain Victor Diaz scored an equalizing goal for the visitors with two minutes to go in the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
But in a late flurry Mir grabbed bagged the third goal three minutes into injury time with Gomez scoring a fourth six minutes later.
After losing last weekend to their direct rivals Barca, Sevilla now have 60 points, three ahead of both the Catalans who have played two games fewer, and Atletico Madrid.
“We have not been on a good run recently. (But) we said we will fight until the finish. Our fans can’t doubt that.” Granada’s Darwin Machis scored the opening goal before Sevilla rallied to take the lead with goals by Diego Carlos in the 32nd and Lucas Ocampos in the 66th.
Granada’s Raul Torrente had to be carried off on a stretcher after apparently hurting his leg with the game still scoreless.
