Singer,The Weeknd Wins 10 Billboard Music Awards
The Weeknd tacked on three more awards during the 2021 billboard music awards,giving him a total of 10 trophies this year.
At tonight’s ceremony the Canadian R&B singer won Top Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Song Presented by Rockstar, Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Radio Song and Top R&B Song. His career total now stands at 19 wins.
This year marks the first victory for The Weeknd in three nominations in the top artist category. He was previously nominated in 2016 and 2017, losing to Adele and Drake, respectively.
The event was held in front of a completely vaccinated, entirely masked live studio audience in the square outside of L.A.’s Microsoft Theatre, with finalists appearing from a secured “backstage” area to collect their trophies with their backs turned to the audience ‘ almost all of them ensuring to look around and bow to the audience.
