Subsidy: Taraba Governor Reduces Varsity Tuition By 50%
Taraba state Governor Agbu Kefas, on Wednesday announced the slash of university school fees by 50 percent to cushion the current hardship in the country.
A statement issued by his Spokesperson, Emmanuel Bello, stated that the governor revealed the decision at the Taraba State University where he said quality education remained his main priority.
Kefas said he had since declared a state of emergency in the education sector.
According to him, “I am committed to free education at the primary and secondary school levels.
“Some parents said the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy has made payments of school fees difficult. They said the slash has raised their hopes,” Bello added.
Meanwhile, Kefas said plans are being perfected to pay pensioners and retirees.
