The platform has continually sought to enhance its transparency and platform safety, and these measures reflect TikTok’s broader global strategy to keep its diverse user base secure from inappropriate content.

Globally, TikTok removed over 178 million videos by June 2024, with an overwhelming 144 million of these removals managed by automated systems. The company behind TikTok, ByteDance, continues to maintain a strong focus on content safety across its global platforms. ByteDance, a Chinese-founded private company, is structured with 60% of ownership held by global institutional investors, while the remaining 40% is shared between its founders and employees.

With the growing use of the platform in Nigeria, TikTok aims to ensure that the experience remains positive, informative, and secure for all users.
