Tinubu To Commission New Projects At UNILORIN’s 39th Convocation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission several newly completed projects at the University of Ilorin during the institution’s 39th convocation ceremonies, scheduled to take place on October 22, 2024. This milestone event will form part of a broader series of activities celebrating the university’s achievements and the accomplishments of its graduating students.
According to a press statement released by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the convocation ceremonies will officially begin with a Vice Chancellor’s Press Briefing on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the University Auditorium. The briefing will commence at 10:00 a.m. and provide an opportunity for the University to highlight key developments over the past academic year, as well as its strategic goals moving forward.
One of the highlights of the convocation week will be the Convocation Lecture, which will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024. The lecture, entitled “Nurturing Democratic Values and Education for the Future of Nigeria,” will be delivered by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN. A highly anticipated event, the lecture will be held at the University Auditorium, starting at 9:45 a.m. Chief Fagbemi’s address is expected to provide insights into the intersection of education and democracy in shaping Nigeria’s future, offering perspectives on how educational institutions like the University of Ilorin can contribute to national development.
On the same day, the university’s Performing Arts Theatre will host the Convocation Play, “Nilee Wa” (In Our Land), which is expected to draw attention to local cultural heritage and artistic expressions, further enriching the convocation festivities.
