Two Dies, Three Sustain Injuries In Lagos Gas Explosion
A total of two persons lost their lives while three others sustained injuries in a gas explosion that happened in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos on Tuesday.
The explosion was said to have been caused by the mishandling of cooking gas cylinders assembled at the entrance of shops.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos police command confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
“It is just a week and we have recorded another gas explosion at a gas retail shop, this time in Ibeju-Lekki,” Hundeyin wrote on X.
“Sadly, two persons died, three persons sustained injuries and four shops got razed. Let us prevent avoidable deaths. Let us be safety-conscious at all times!”
Officers from the Lekki Phase II fire station, complemented by health, environment, and military officials, were said to have responded to the incident.
