Vice President Kashim Shettima Prays For Nigeria During Umrah In Makkah

Vice President Kashim Shettima offered prayers for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and prosperity on Wednesday while performing Umrah, the lesser hajj, at the Holy Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

In a statement shared on Thursday by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima sought divine intervention for the nation’s leadership and citizenry during the spiritual exercise.

Prayers for Peace and Leadership

During his supplications, Shettima implored Allah to bless Nigeria with peace and social harmony, emphasizing the need for divine guidance in governance.

Our prayer is for peace to prevail in our land. May Allah grant our land peace and social harmony,” the Vice President stated.

He further prayed for Nigerian leaders, from the President to local councillors, asking Allah to bestow upon them wisdom, patience, and the generosity exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

May Allah grant our leaders the wisdom to rule our nation well and to govern our people with justice and fairness,” Shettima prayed.

Commitment to National Progress

The Vice President expressed optimism that the prayers for tranquility and prosperity in Nigeria would be answered, adding, “Let there be peace, tranquility, and prosperity in our nation. This is our prayer, and Insha’ Allah, our prayers will be answered by Allah.”

Diplomatic Engagement

Nkwocha also noted that Shettima’s bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank, initially scheduled in Jeddah, had been postponed to a later date.

The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria on Friday after completing his spiritual journey. His trip to Saudi Arabia followed a visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited.

Shettima’s prayers reflect a call for collective faith and hope for Nigeria’s continued growth and unity.
