Warri Refinery Restoration: A New Year Gift To Nigerians – Gov. Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has lauded the restoration of the Warri Refinery as a landmark achievement for Nigeria’s petroleum industry. Describing it as a New Year gift to Nigerians, Okpebholo congratulated President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for successfully restarting the refinery, which has a capacity of 125,000 barrels per day (bpd).

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Tuesday, the governor praised Tinubu’s reforms in the oil and gas sector, highlighting their positive impact on the nation’s economy.

The restoration of the 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company marks a turnaround in the nation’s petroleum sector,” Okpebholo stated. “I hail President Tinubu for the reform in the sector, which has started yielding positive results and will lead to the advancement of the economy. I urge Nigerians to support the president.”

Okpebholo expressed optimism that with the simultaneous operation of the Warri, Port Harcourt, and Dangote refineries, Nigeria’s petroleum sector is poised for a significant transformation. He emphasized that these developments represent a step forward in reducing the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products and positioning Nigeria as a crude oil refining hub in Africa.

“I want to join other numerous Nigerians to congratulate President Tinubu and the NNPCL under Mele Kyari for successfully reviving the Warri Refinery,” he said. “For me, this is certainly a New Year gift to Nigerians. Edo State will continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government to restore our national pride and make Nigeria a hub for crude oil refining in Africa.”

The restoration of the Warri Refinery has been widely acknowledged as a critical step toward addressing challenges in the petroleum sector, with stakeholders hopeful that these efforts will stabilize fuel prices and drive economic growth.
