Yusuf Apologizes After First UFC Loss
Nigerian Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight star, Sodiq Yusuff, has apologised to fans after his first UFC loss to Briton, Arnold Allen, at UFC Vegas 23 at the APEX Arena, Las Vegas on Sunday, 11th April.
The fight, which was touted as a matchup of the next generation of featherweight contenders, witnessed the Brit come out victorious after three rounds. The victory made him earn his eighth consecutive win and the record holder for the longest active UFC winning streak in the featherweight segment.
This is Yusuff’s first loss since he joined the UFC franchise in 2018 and his second professional Mixed Martial Arts loss in 13 fights. The loss puts a stop to his six-fight winning streak.
However, the 27-year-old has vowed to work harder against his next fight and make his supporters proud.
The Nigerian captioned on Instagram, “Sorry to all my supporters, I appreciate you all and all the good energy the past year. Rough way to come back but I will keep improving and get a better result next time.”
On the other hand, Arnold has said that both fighters will most likely meet in the future.
“We were both hungry, we were both there to win, it was never going to be easy, I think it was an exciting fight. For sure we’re going to meet again in the future. He’s a good guy and he has a good team around him, I’m sure he’s going to be back. He’s young and he’s hungry. He’ll be back,” Arnold declared after the fight.
