Zamfara Suspends Political Activities Over Insecurity
Zamfara State has suspended all political activities in the state indefinitely as a result of the increasing level of insecurity.
This was announced on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara.
According to Dosara, the government was saddened and bothered about the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda local government areas.
He said, “This is to inform the general public that following the recent spate of attacks on some communities across some local government areas of the state and the rising cases of kidnapping in the communities as well as along some major roads in the state, government has considered and approved some recommendations by the Security Council aimed at curtailing the activities of the hoodlums.”
“Government is saddened and worried about the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas’’.
“Government therefore condoles with the families of the victims of the bandits’ attacks and prayed for the repose of the departed souls.
“The general public is hereby inform that following the loss of lives of our fellow brothers and sisters, Governor Matawalle has ordered for the immediate suspension of all political activities in the state till further notice.”
